Betty Barclay Autumn/Winter 2007
Betty Barclay reflects the current trend towards clarity and tenacity by gently introducing new silhouettes, using decorative details and calm colour statements with invigorating, colourful accents. The new autumn/winter collection focuses on an emotional and modern mix, with the inspiration taken from international city life, making an attractive blend of elegance and informality.
The new look is refined and calm, at the same time casual and feminine. Betty Barclay mixes cool style elements with subtle decoration and fine details such as selected linings, bands, backstitches, overlaps, patches, stocking seams and piping. Play on surface structures and matt-sheen effects underline the modern look and there are combinations of tweed, flannel and fine leather with technical cotton, new types of nylon or chiffon. Betty Barclay offers clean-cut little herringbone jackets with matching waistcoats and brown jodhpurs - a delicate frilly blouse giving a feminine contrast to this equestrian-look outfit with an English touch.
Youthful dynamics and traditional function are combined in a precise pleated tweed skirt, a waistcoat bearing a coat of arms and a plain white shirt with a wacky tone-in-tone tie. Betty Barclay also interprets clean influences from the 1960's in a modern way. The graphic styling is distinctive, whether it be a black short sleeved jersey dress with a large collar and matching leather belt, striped top and indispensable black drainpipes or a long cardigan in azalea red with a striking buckle which sets off masculine herringbone trousers and a white shirt.
The new silhouettes are the decisive element in the new winter look, presented by Betty Barclay with new length and volume. A typical must-have outfit this winter is the comfy, casual long cardigan with a loose cable stitch, combined with a light turtleneck top and grey denim drainpipes, or a long, slim tiger patterned sweater with a pair of skinny black trousers - the slim line is the real winner when it comes to trousers. Tailored blazers also come in longer styles, plus new parkas and belted jackets. Casual blouson jackets worn with wide men's trousers, boot-cut trousers or a trendy pencil skirt all create new momentum. Skirts come in every silhouette and are shorter again, with Betty Barclay focusing on moderate tulip and pencil shapes. Dresses play a huge role, primarily in uncomplicated materials such as jersey or knit. The modern look is best expressed when the dresses are worn over leggings and skinny trousers or are combined with fitted jackets.
The winter colours are calm; Betty Barclay accentuates neutral shades from light beige to brown and from grey to black with colourful accessories.
